Nascar Adventures

I never knew anything about Nascar until Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby For those that don't know the movie, please see it, it is one of Will Ferrell's most hilarious movies.

Every single time it's on television I click on it. Nascar is car racing plain and simple. So I never turn down an opportunirty, so my teacher offered us some free tickets for Nascar championship in Homestead. I took my friend Nelly and we went all cute. Since I like boys of the chocolate variety I was disappointed to find out that there has only been 7 African-American Nascar drivers and NONE of them was present.

So I got to the track at Homestead and not gonna lie this was the first time I got the look. Being a Puerto Rican and Black princess hailing from the Bronx I had never gotten the look because we don't tolerate that in New York but I surely got it today. The look for those that don't know is the "Do You Belong Here" look. But I embraced it because I have a zero tolerance for disrespect and it is 2018 not the 1800's so we're past the 40 acres and the mule type of vibe. When I finally got to the office to receive my passes they were not trying to give me my passes but were trying to get me to volunteer as a serve. HA, Must've confused me for another person.

I got the most plain type of pass and when I got in you know I finessed myself. This lady was like you must be here to volunteer , I was like NOPE, here to report, she literally told me there's no way. I was like okay, NEXT. So I finessed the Director of Communications and got Nelly and myself some hot passes and GIRL WE MADE IT ! We got the whole tour and everything. We were on the track, we saw the cars zooming past us we could barely talk. We saw the drivers' families and saw the cars get fixed up close and personal. It was definitely an experience I enjoyed because I got to see it up close and personal and I had never experienced Nascar until that day. Ironically, I was standing next to the winner's family so it was pretty cool to see them so happy about their son/brother/boyfriend/friend winning. We got to run on the track with NBC and we saw the helps pop the bottles of champagne. It was really a fun event all around. I don't know if I would ever go back but it was definitely a great experience. Nascar is definitely an exciting sport because of the adrenaline rush , nothing was better than being next to the cars !
