American Horror Story has become a phenomenon that always comes out around this time of year.If you have never heard of it, It's on Wednesdays at 10 pm on FX. They have about 8 seasons and each season is as successful as the last. This new season's theme is about the Apocalypse in present time. Apocalypse takes place in the West Coast of the United States in the near future, and centers around an Outpost sheltering survivors from the fallout of a global nuclear holocaust. The characters all come from various walks of life but one thing that they all have in common is that they survived the Apocalypse and now they all trapped inside of this shelter.
My first instinct while watching was instant anxiety. Imagine not being able to leave a place for years because you could literally die from walking outside. What would you do to pass the days? Relive your past and memories you have experienced. Imagine all those events and opportunities you said no to. Thankful for me I have a serious case of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and I am not ashamed. I try as much as I can to attend every concert, every food event, and every trip. Imagine never living life and then fast forward you're stuck somewhere and can't escape. For example this was my most traveled summer. Being from New York I always have to travel to and from Miami at least four times a year for school so to me that's nothing now.
But this past May, I went from school to Las Vegas for a week. It was so hot but finally I had visited the desert and I could never say that before. Being able to see real cacti and mountains was a surreal moment for me. After Vegas, I went straight back to Orlando went to Disney World's Magic Kingdom. I hadn't been since I was eight because I typically go to Universal Studios. From Orlando, I went back to New York and prepared for my study abroad journey. I had travel to Europe for the first time and stayed there for 5 weeks. I LIVED in Rome, Trastevere to be exact. Not many people could say they lived in Europe, but for over a month. I wined and dined every night. I ate pasta 3 times a day and ate gelato like it was a food group. Wine was 3 euro and it was probably older than me. I lived among thousands of years of history.
Rome wasn't the only place I visited. I took weekend trips to Venice on the Euro-star. For 30 euro I had unlimited champagne, paninis, and desserts up and down Italy. I also got to visit Naples, which is the home of pizza, Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri. My goal was to visit Paris and I surely did no matter how much money was left in my account. One of my favorite movies, Midnight in Paris, made me fall in love with Paris. The architecture, the 1 euro croissants, the carnivals, the Eiffel Tower, the romance everywhere you look, the FOOD. I was in love and I never wanted to leave. I went to church with the Pope leading, I watch soccer games, I had 5 pound bags under my eyes, I was walking 5 thousand steps a day and I was happy. There was never a bad moment in Europe except for having to leave.
The point of my love story with Europe was to share no matter how tired or how much you have on your plate, you need to always have a work play balance. You need to explore as much as you can because you never know when you won't have that ability. In the season of Halloween, I feel people should still go out and enjoy life. Just because we aren't kids anymore doesn't mean we cannot party and dress up anymore. There's so many Halloween events in Miami that you shouldn't miss out on. I have listed some down below but you can find more online.
